Interaction Design for Education
Transferring Photos to your Computer from your Camera
By: Myrna Maas
Purpose:
To teach a new computer user how to transfer their favorite photos from their digital camera to their home computer.
Target Audience:
General target audience will be older users who are relatively new to computers. Users will have a very limited knowledge of basic computer terms and definitions and as such the project will have to work around these difficulties.
To date this will be the most difficult audience to design for; their attention much different from younger or more experienced audiences. Colors will need to remain slightly muted, and content will need to be very straight forward with logical explanations of steps.
Tech. Aspects:
Tutorial needs to be made using Adobe Captivate. Color scheme must be kept to a minimum to not distract older audiences. Steps need to remain clear and detailed without being too descriptive.
If time permits, a PDF or WORD document may be created as a companion to the visual/audio tutorial. These would include step-by-step images with written explanations of each step.
Steps to Follow:
gather materials -> connect device to computer -> turn on device -> watch for window -> choose photos -> click next -> choose/set-up folder -> click next -> choose to keep or remove photos from device -> wait for download -> click finish -> window containing photos will appear -> disconnect device from computer -> turn off device
Goals and Problem Solving:
The main goal for this project is to educate newer computer users on how to transfer digital photos from cameras to home computers. Since there are two methods, each will be explained separately so to not confuse the user.
